Senior Service Charge Accountant

Job title: Senior Service Charge Accounts Specialist and Client Relationship Builder

Reporting to: Caterina Cannas (Head of Financial Compliance) and Jamie Coronna (Director)

Salary: Negotiable dependent on skills and experience

Start Date: Before 5th April 2024 

Term: Permanent

Office & Working Hours:  09:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday 

 

Purpose of the position:

tlc Estate Agents, a leading estate agency based in the heart of Kensington and Chelsea, is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, superbly organised, and committed individual who can help progress the Service Charge Accounts Department at our successful and unique Estate Agency. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely preparation and management of service charge accounts, budgets, and financial reports, while delivering high-quality financial advice and support to our clients and team. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and finalise annual service charge accounts in TECH03/11 format, in accordance with legal and professional standards.

Reconcile Client Accounts monthly in accordance with regulatory body standards.

Manage and oversee the service charge budgeting process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with lease agreements.

Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary information and support for the audit of service charge accounts.

Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures for the management of service charges.

Provide financial analysis and reports to support decision-making for property management and maintenance.

Ensure timely collection of service charges, managing arrears effectively.

Advise and support clients and the Block Management team on financial matters related to service charges.

Stay updated on legislation and best practices related to service charge management and property finance.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is desirable.

Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.

 

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in service charge accounting or a similar role, within the property management or real estate sector.

Proven track record of managing service charge accounts and budgets.

 

Skills and Attributes:

Strong understanding of property management and leasehold legislation.

Excellent analytical and numerical skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.

Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

 

Holiday (Allocated on a pro rata basis): 

Year 1: 23 days 

Year 2: 25 days

Year 3: 26 days

Year 4: 27 days

Year 5 onwards: 28 days

All usual bank and public holidays in addition
