We are proud to announce our next Open Air Musical Summer Community Production, West Side Story!
We will be transporting you to gritty New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs. From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story, the Earl’s Courtiers summer show, is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim is widely regarded as one of the best ever written; America, I Feel Pretty, Tonight and Somewhere are just a few memorable songs you won’t want to miss.
This year we are looking in particular for teens as there are some great roles. You could be our, Maria, a lovely young and obedient girl, excited and enthusiastic about her new life in America, but with stubborn inner strength that allows her to evolve into a strong woman.
Or Tony, a romantic young man and former leader of the Jets, who finds himself violently torn between his friendships and love. Or perhaps you would like to play feisty and assertive Annita or bitter angry Bernado. There are so many great roles this year!
If playing the lead role is not what you are looking for, perhaps you would like to be in one of the singing and dancing rival gangs, as there are quite a few ensemble songs in West Side Story.
I'm interested! What's next?
