St. Cuthbert’s Church, Philbeach Gardens, Earl’s Court, London
Join UAID International for a remarkable evening celebrating Ukraine’s cultural identity and resilience. Song Out of Darkness brings together world-class performances of Ukrainian music, poetry, and art, while paying tribute to Vera Rich, the London-based poet and translator whose work introduced Taras Shevchenko to English readers.
Highlights include:
Soprano Oksana Sliubyk (Royal Opera House performer)
Iryna Rodionova, acclaimed bandura player, with children’s Bandura Ensemble
The Spirit of Ukraine children’s dance troupe
Pianist Nazar Voronov (age 15, award-winning talent)
Virtuoso violinist Vasyl Hrynkiv
Vivo Vocal Quartet, from London’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral
Alongside the performances, guests can enjoy authentic Ukrainian refreshments and two powerful exhibitions: Embroiderers’ Stories, a 100-panel tapestry created by displaced Ukrainian women, and works by artist Tetyana Frey on fragments of missile shells.
Why it matters:
Proceeds support UAID International, a volunteer-run UK charity providing medical and humanitarian aid to families affected by war in Ukraine. Funds raised will go directly towards supplying first aid training materials for teachers and pupils at the Boryspil Pavlo Chubynskyi Lyceum.
RSVP: Please email info@uaid.org.uk by 1 October 2025.
